My kitty, Rex, died today. It was very sudden and rather un-fucking-fair. He was fine yesterday until around 5, when he came inside all sluggish. He sat in my dogs little bed, something he's never done before, and wouldn't eat. I knew something was wrong, but since he had no wounds and couldn't have just gotten THAT SICK so quickly, I assumed that it would sort itself out. If he wasn't better today, I was going to take him to the vet. Well, I did end up doing that, but it was too late. He was dead when I got home from school today. The nearest I can figure, he fell off our roof and was bleeding internally. He was a really clumsy cat.

It may seem strange and a little insensitive, but coming from where I am right now (and that place would be curled up into a ball next to a growing mountain of tissues), it was perfect. Humor is just what people need like this. I'm really fucking lucky to have a girlfriend who understands how to listen and then how to make me smile.

Word to the wise, take that to heart next time you or someone you know is grieving.
